This course is a foundational building block to becoming a better clinician when it comes to inhalational sedation with nitrous oxide and oxygen. • Discuss the characteristics of both oxygen and nitrous oxide
• Understand the emergency procedure anytime a patient is uncomfortable or may be receiving too much nitrous oxide
• Explain which may patients may not be suitable for receiving nitrous oxide – oxygen sedation
• Describe the mechanism of action of nitrous oxide – oxygen sedation as we understand it today
• Discuss relative contraindications and medical situations in which nitrous oxide – oxygen sedation may not be advised
